Igor's call, in full
I called China's about-face on crypto, Web3, and the metaverse, and it landed in 2023. Beijing does not tolerate decentralized systems it cannot control, so the reversal was predictable once you read the intentions rather than the announcements. This is the same pattern that runs through my China calls: the state wants regulated, controllable technology, not open networks that create independent power bases, which is exactly why it will also move against its own KOL industry. Read the intentions, not the headlines. With China, the intention is always control.
