UBI 2040

No country runs a permanent, national, unconditional Universal Basic Income (UBI) large enough to replace a livelihood today. What exists are pilots, dividends, and promises.

Alaska has paid eligible residents an annual dividend since 1982, proof a public check can survive politically for decades. Iran paid nearly every citizen about $45 a month from 2010, the biggest non-Western cash program on record. Inflation has eaten most of it since. That is what a check looks like when the government controls its value.

The Romans called it bread and circuses 2,000 years ago. A government that becomes your landlord, employer, and income provider gains leverage over your life. That is not left or right. It is a power problem.

The companies selling robots will sell the dividend as the cure. Governments will take the deal, because social stability is cheaper than social unrest.

First, the Big Tech bros pushing their stock price explain why free money is good for you. Then I explain why it is good for them and not for you.

The sellers sit in Silicon Valley. The buyers are governments on every continent.

Elon Musk wrote on X in April 2026: "Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI."

OpenAI proposed handing 5% of its shares to a US public wealth fund. A US senator wants the largest AI companies to hand 50% of their stock to a public fund, 1 time. He calls it fairness. Neither is law. Nobody has received a dividend.

Futurist Ray Kurzweil, 13 years on Google's payroll and today chief AI officer of a humanoid robot company, says UBI is common in the developed world by the early 2030s. Peter Diamandis, co-founder of the Google-backed Singularity University, wants it deployed by 2028.

I am independent. I take no money from anyone, not from Big Tech. I call that 50% stock tax what it is, a tax paid in shares. I say later.

Nobody can say what China, India and the Gulf will decide. Their choice, not Silicon Valley's, sets the date of the world's first full UBI.

My prediction: the first permanent pocket money arrives, Alaska style, in 1 or 2 countries by 2035. A full national UBI does not begin before 2040.

And 1 thing the elite, the futurists on Big Tech's payroll, and the senators with a fund to sell never say: UBI is not a law of nature. It happens only if the people accept it. If the people rise and refuse to be paid for their silence, there will be no UBI. Not in 2040, not ever.

Take the dividend when it comes, but demand ownership, transparency, and the right to earn beyond it.

The question is not whether the machines create enough wealth. It is who owns them, who controls the fund, and what you surrender for the check.

Digital slavery does not begin with a free check. It begins when the check becomes your only option.
