What is the difference between fitting in and standing out?
Fitting in buys comfort. Standing out creates opportunity. Igor Beuker argues most people bury their creativity and ambition to win acceptance, while misfits choose authenticity over conformity and accept criticism as the price of freedom. The crowd rewards sameness with belonging and punishes difference with friction. The friction is exactly where the value lives. Comfort is a slow way to disappear.
