Will AI cure cancer?

No. AI catches cancer earlier and designs drugs faster. It does not cure it. Timing is everything in cancer, and timing is what AI moves. Follow the money. Cancer drugs are pharma's biggest market: $291 billion in 2025, about $470 billion by 2030. A cure sells once. A treatment sells for years. That is why the money flows to detecting and treating, not curing. The patient pool is exploding. 21 million new cases in 2024, a record. Cancer under 50 up 79% since 1990, steeper since the pandemic. Turbo cancer is in the news everywhere, and a South Korean study of 8.4 million people found higher cancer risk after COVID vaccination. The registries run 2 to 3 years behind. When the 2023 to 2025 data land, I forecast the fastest rise in cancer cases in modern history. Where AI wins: detection. The first randomized trial, 105,934 women, The Lancet 2026: AI plus 1 radiologist found 29% more cancers than 2 radiologists. 1,451 AI devices cleared by the FDA. No AI-designed drug approved anywhere yet. My forecast: by 2030 AI reads every scan and catches most cancers 1 stage earlier. First AI cancer drug at scale, early 2030s. No cure by 2030. Cancer is 200 diseases. My own cancer was pre-AI. When I was 32 years old, doctors diagnosed me with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, stage 4, and gave me 6 to 12 months to live. I am super grateful I survived, but it cost me part of my immune system. I am not a doctor. Talk to yours, and get screened.
