The consulting business model is a pyramid: a few partners at the top, an army of young analysts at the bottom doing the research, the slides, and the models at $350 to $500 an hour. AI does that bottom-of-the-pyramid work now. I forecast that by 2030, AI collapses the analyst pyramid at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Accenture, and Deloitte. When the machine builds the deck and runs the analysis, you do not need to bill a client for 20 analysts to do it. The firms that survive sell judgment, relationships, and accountability, the things a model cannot provide. The ones that were really selling leveraged analyst hours lose their economics.
