AUDIENCE-FIRST 2030
Audience-first companies: 10 hit $1 billion a year by 2030.
Key figures
My call: at least 10 audience-first companies earn $1 billion+ a year by 2030, 2 or more divisions, 10 million+ fans built first.
Confirmed today under my criteria: 0.
First in line: Beast Industries, $400 million in 2024, $900 million projected for 2025.
The pond: creator economy $250 billion in 2023, $480 billion by 2027 (Goldman Sachs).
The crashes: Prime $1.2 billion in 2023 to about $300 million in 2025.
East Buy lost its star host and a third of its revenue.
For a century the chain ran 1 way: build the product, buy the ads, pray for customers. Audience-first companies reverse it. Build the audience. Earn trust. Read demand. Then build the business.
MrBeast turned 500 million subscribers into Feastables, Lunchly, toys, a TV show and a teen bank. In 2024 his videos lost almost $80 million. His chocolate made $20 million. Media is the marketing budget. Products are the profit engine. Steven Bartlett builds the same stack in London: podcast, studio, fund, $425 million valuation.
Why now? AI compresses product development from years to months. On-demand factories make the first 10,000 units a phone call, not a mortgage. And a direct audience cuts the cost that kills most brands: finding customers. The audience-first company skips the ad budget. It already has the room.
The catch: followers are rented, customers are owned. Prime fell 75% in 2 years. East Buy lost star host Dong Yuhui and a third of its revenue the next year. Attention disappears faster than a factory closes.
Who is on the road? SKIMS passed $1 billion with 1 brand. Gymshark did £646 million in 2025 on an audience built before the first shop. Rare Beauty passed $400 million. Rhode sold for $1 billion on $212 million in sales. Each one has the fans. Each one needs the second division.
My definition: 10 million fans before the first product, then $1 billion a year across 2 or more divisions. Media counts as 1 division if the second one sells real products or services, not just merchandise. 1 brand does not count; that is my Creator Brands 2030 card. Today 0 companies are confirmed under my criteria. Beast Industries is first in line, on its own 2025 projection.
My prediction: at least 10 by 2030. The next business empire starts with customers, not products.
